Van de Walle menagerie

Here are some pictures sent by a Net surfer whose family was in charge of the Van de Walle menagerie (click here to join him). These pictures are unplugged and date back to the beginning of the century. It was the biggest traveling menagerie in France, maybe even in whole Europe, at the time. There was 85 big deer, the first captured adult gorilla and the world's youngest tamer (she was 16 year old), who used to enter in a cage with six lions, six female lions, six panthers an six tigers. It was just awesome and unique ! Unfortunately, WW1 destroyed it all.
